What’s the best thing about STE(A)M focused learning? It’s the ‘E’ – of course!! Science, Technology, Arts and Mathematics all feature in school as specific learning areas but the Engineering aspect of STEAM is its hidden foundation. Engineering is the underlying core of what brings STEAM together, because it is the process.

The three core parts of Engineering design (defining problems, designing solutions and testing to refine solutions) can be found in familiar strategies in education such as design thinking methodology, challenged-based learning, problem-solving, inquiry-based learning and the Makers Movement.

Makerspaces can be places where students are able to use an engineering process to formulate new ideas, and/or build on existing ideas, to create solutions in an authentic learning experience. Along with traditional technologies such as cardboard, paint and glue, Makerspaces feature new and emerging technologies such as 3D Printing, Robotics and Coding.

The ‘Full STEAM Ahead!’ Roundtable Event is an opportunity for you to share with colleagues their Makerspace experiences and connect with Datacom experts in coding, robotics and 3D Design and Print to enrich your students’ learning and engineering process capabilities.

Together with HP, Microsoft and Intel, Datacom would like to invite you to an informative roundtble breakfast where we will discuss the following hot topics:
  • How to get started with coding. Why is computational thinking important for our students?
  • How 3D Printing and Design can be a tool for more areas of the curriculum than you think!
  • What to do after you buy the robotics kit (and how to avoid it gathering dust in a shelf of your classroom!
