Premier's Reading Challenge

The Library has undergone an exciting refurbishment and upgrade, creating a centre for learning excellence.  The Library now boasts new carpet, fresh paint, air conditioning, new furniture and the connected classroom as well as wireless connection for student laptops. The connected classroom is for interactive lessons through the use of the electronic whiteboard, data projector and teleconferencing. 

 There are 26 computers which can be used by students to access the internet for research, to complete their assignments and to search for library books in our online catalogue.  Students have access to photocopying and a colour laser printer to print their work from any computer in the library.

The school library continues to provide a wide range of resources to support learning in the school and to encourage recreational reading by the students. The library has a good selection of reference books and a broad non-fiction section for use by students for research. Increasingly students and teachers are using digital resources and more websites and digital objects are being added to the collection which students and staff can access from the library's online catalogue .The fiction collection is added to on a regular basis with popular books for both junior and senior students and includes a section of graded books which are used by the students in the Home Reading Program.

The library is open at 8.30am each day and at recess and lunchtime most days of the week. It is closed on Monday at recess and on Wednesday at lunchtime. The borrowing limit for students in years 7 to 10 is 2 fiction books and 2 nonfiction books. In years 11 and 12 the borrowing limit is increased to 4 fiction and 6 non-fiction books. The loan period is for 2 weeks.

 

The Careers Advisor's office is located in the library annexe.
